About
Based and operating from The Hague, The Netherlands.
Currently in Kyoto, Japan.
Densley Annastatia (1997) is a photographer whose work is deeply rooted in self-exploration and cultural identity. Currently studying at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, he navigates themes of migration, belonging, and the search for self through his photography.
Positioning himself as both an observer and creator, Annastatia’s work is a visual reflection of his dual cultural background. His projects often begin with in-depth research, leading to personal discoveries that resonate with a broader audience—particularly those from second- generation migrant backgrounds. Through intimate portrayals of landscapes, interiors, and portraits, he captures the emotional landscape of displacement, nostalgia, and the ever- evolving sense of home.
His imagery speaks to those who, like him, exist in an in-between space—caught between heritage and the society they grew up in. In a time when political ideologies increasingly emphasize nationalism, his work offers a counter-narrative that highlights shared experiences of isolation, resilience, and connection.
Through photography, Annastatia not only seeks to understand his own identity but also creates a space for dialogue, reflection, and recognition for those who see themselves in his images.
